Fee-for-Service (Indemnity) Plans

With fee-for-service plans, the insured can select almost any physician or hospital. The insured needs to pay the deductible and co-payment and the insurer pays the remaining costs up to the insurance policy's cap. Though fee-for-service plans are very flexible, they are also more costly than managed care plans.
